Important Federal Tax Filing Deadlines in Response to COVID-19

  • Tax return extension requests are not required for any taxpayer until July 15, 2020 as this is a change in the due date of the returns.
  • The change in due date also applies to IRA, SEP-IRA, and other retirement plan contributions for 2019.
  • Payments that would have been otherwise due on April 15th (either for 2019 taxes or 2020 first quarter estimated tax payments) are now due on July 15, 2020 and will be accepted without interest or penalty.
